Went to the park lands with my gf today after school, and found this nice 4ft wood lying around.
By the look of it, it probably never been in deep water before, only washed by the rain.
It was actually raining, rather pouring, when we went to the park today.
Anyway, it's about 4ft long, and the widest part is like my wrist.
Currently, it's floating in my 4ft tank, i had it perfectly planned, but the only problem is to get it sink.
I don't think i can find something that big to boil it.
And I don't like weighing it down with slabs cause it doesn't look natural, and all my tanks are natural looking.
So please help out, any thing I can do?
Will shower it with really hot water help?
Or shower it with hot water and cold water alternating?

Try to weigh it down & get it waterlogged as soon as possible. In that way, you'll wait less than letting it float in your tank & getting it waterlogged naturally.

Yes, you can wash it with hot water for a few times & make sure that you clean it well.

I would be careful if it's just a piece of wood and not actual driftwood. If it's a piece of wood off the ground, it could have sap and resins still in it.

I would be very careful with wood you found on the ground. Do you know what species of tree it came from? It could also have funguses and other critters living in it.

For sinking it, You will want to empty your tank, gravel and all, and get some heavy duty black suction cups (like for filters). Tie some fishing line tightly around the nubs of the cups, and stick them to the bottom of the tank. Then tie your wood down to the suction cups, cover the cups with gravel, and voila!, your wood should stay down, though it may shift a bit during aquascaping and cleaning. After a few months, it should be waterlogged enough to stay sunk.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Take it out immediatly.

Reason. As it had been in a park you have no idea where it came from. If it came out of a near by tree it could still be green (not old and dry)

As it was laying on the ground (grass) parks are very regually sprayed with many chemicals. The chemicals would be taken up via the roots of the tree and will still be in the wood.

It also could be on the outside of the wood if it came in contact with nasties (including bird droppings)
