You need to register in order to post messages and edit profiles. Registration gives you a unique name in the community and helps to prevent spammers. It only takes a few minutes to register so it is recommended you do so. To register click here.
You can search for topics here. When searching, make sure you click on the search button rather than just pressing enter otherwise no results may be returned. To minimise the drain on the database server, the search is limited to topic titles only.
The silver stars show your last quiz score. You receive a gold star for each 10 you get in a row.
The awards are used to promote site participation. At this time there is no complete list of awards. Please do not ask for an award, many are automatically given.
Kudos points were created to encourage participation in on-topic forums. You receive 1 kudos point for each new topic and 2 kudos points for each reply to a topic (1st 5 replies only).
Premium members can attach images or use [img] tags to display images directly in their posts. These images need to be hosted somewhere else on the internet. They cannot be hosted on FishProfiles.com. Please do not post images you do not own the copyright to.
If you see an objectionable comment that breaches the FishProfiles.com terms of service please report it using the report post icon at the base of the post.
When you edit your profile, several free text fields are provided for you to populate with your own personal information. You can list your tanks here if you like, or anything that does not breach the terms of service.
You may be seeing times displayed in a time zone different from the one you are in. If this is the case, you should change your profile setting for the time zone to match your particular area.
To combat spamming, post counts are only incremented in on-topic forums, where the post is above a certain length. Short posts and posts in off-topic forums do not increase your post count. Posting for the sake of increasing your post count may result in your account being time limited between posts and your post count may be reduced.
Each member is assigned a community status depending on their post count. Some members are also assigned an honorary status which is shown in bold under their community status. A listing of all statuses and their required post counts is unavailable to discourage spamming.
A moderator looks after the running of their forums from day to day. They have the power to edit or delete posts and lock, unlock, move and delete topics in the forum they moderate. Generally moderators are there to prevent people going off-topic or posting abusive or offensive material.
An administrator has moderation access to all of the forums and can perform many other advanced functions. Administrators manage the overall day to day activities of the site and its members. The Administrators are Adam and Babelfish.
Premium Members choose to support the site by paying a small subscription fee. In return for supporting the site, Premium Members are given extra options and privileges. Without Premium Members, FishProfiles.com would not exist in its current form. To become a Premium Member, click here.
To add a signature to a post you can add one to your profile. Please limit the size of your signature to three lines or less and a maximum of one link. Large images in premium member signatures will be removed.
Colours, fonts, avatars, and many other benefits are for Premium Members. For a small yearly subscription fee, Premium Members support the site and are given privileges for doing so. Without Premium Members, FishProfiles.com would not exist in its current form.
Each Premium Member is entitled to have a personalised image known as an avatar under their names. Premium Members can add an avatar by editing their profile.
Currently only Premium Members can change their usernames.
If you are receiving unwanted private messages from FishProfiles.com members, please forward them to an administrator. Unsolicited private messages are against the FishProfiles.com terms of service.

Warning levels are used by administrators and moderators to keep a track of your behaviour. If your warning level gets too high, you may have administrative action taken against your account. If your warning level reaches 100% you will be permanently banned.

Please post your bug in the Site Feedback forum with as much information about your browser and what you were doing at the time. If the bug generates an error message, please post the entire error message.
