Nope, havent used airstones in ages. I had a bubble wand in the 10 at one point.

I didnt like the noise, or the evaporation rates. My HOB filters provide plenty of surface agitation.

BTW polls are for premium members .

Yes, I use and firmly believe in airstones.
I use 2 large airstones (5 inch diameter) in my
75g tank, and 2 small cylinder air stones in each
of my smaller, 25, 10 and my 5g tank has a sponge filter, with an air stone attached.
I have found that even if my power goes out and
the air stones are out for only 1 hour, 50% or more
of my fish are gasping at the surface for air.

I don't use any airstones and haven't for ages. Like Babel my filters create plenty of surface agitation so I don't see any need for them. Also, I don't like the noise of vibrator air pumps.

I have 2 airstones running in my 10g tank. I can't even hear my pump over the sound of the filter water trickling into the tank. I have a tetra 10 pump with the little rubber feet, this seems like a great design so I highly recommend these. I shopped around for mine and found it at a lfs for 8.99 when petsmart/petco were selling theirs for 12.99 and 13.99. For my airstones I'm using lee's discard-a-stone. Two airstones were making too many bubbles at the surface so I added the valve that came with the pump and everything's great.

My opinion on airstones....couldn't hurt.

I have air pumps on all my tanks, and i dont hear any of them. I use them for both adding air to the water since the outputs from my canisters is so low in the water and also for decoration.

but in my 150, i use one of the airstone bars (bout 3 inches) and one of the 6 inch flexable tubs. and in my 55 i just have one airstone.

Fish tanks are an expensive addiction

I have one in each tank. I have one 6 inch wand and one 4 inch wand at the moment. I just like the bubbles and actually like the little noise it produces. My filters cause enough surface agitation but since I was a kid an aquarium just isn't complete without bubbles!

I have 2 foot long wands on my 150 galons tank and find them very useful to oxigenate the water despite having a 1000 galons/hour turnover and an open 55 galons sump filtering. nothing like them bubbles to avoid surface clog, on a setup of huge Oscars and Jaguar chiclids.

I have a 55 gal. with a HOB filter on one end. On the other end I have one airstone & one wand going. I happen to have an air pump with two outlets, so decided I might as well use them both. I like the bubbles & figured the water circulation on that side of the tank would be beneficial. Plus I have one heater in the middle & am thinking that the heat gets distributed better with air stones.

i use a jetstream 3500 and a 2.5 inch bubble stone in my 25 gal tank. works great, and my filter adds alot of surface agitation to definetly no lack of oxygenation there.

In my planted tank i don't use an airstone, but in all the other tanks, yes.

If it's not an air stone, i use a box filter.........
