Hi,
You can simply wash the rock off under running tap water
and then add it to the tank.

Just what is "Java Rock?"

You can tie it up using a cotton thread or a thin fishing line. The cotton will decompose by the time the plants roots take a firm hold.

Hi,
You can use rubber bands, but be sure that the bands
are not too tight as that will crush the roots against
the edges of the rock and kill the plant. Tying loosely
with black thread is a better but sometimes tedious way
of attaching plants to rocks.
It will take several months for the thread to rot away
or the rubber bands to fall apart, but before that
will happen the plants will over grow the thread or bands
and you won't see the process occur.

Just give the rock a good soaking for a few days just incase there are any nasties or some thing a LFS has sprayed in the area of them. Them just hose them off a good stiff brish also helps.

I have tried both over the years and neither work as they rot down well before the plant has had time to attach its self to the DW or the rock. I only use 15lb nylon fishing line tied on very firmly.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
