Hello there guys, I was researching about aquascaping the last couple of months to try some techniques on my tank I really need to do some work in my tank... ANYwayz I came across something which was intresting and that was vine root use in the aquarium... What is vine root? is IT grape vine roots coz if it yipee I have an abundant supply... my father works in the vineyard industry and he says there's mountains of the stuff from old grapevines from years gone by, 20yrs he reckons... Well Has anyone got experience whith this stuff is it anygood?... what are the best way to prepare the stuff.... Hi,
While I did not find any reference to A plant called
vine root, there are numerous references to using
vine roots in place of, or along with, driftwood.
If that is what you are going to do, vine root requires
the same preparation as driftwood does before placing
it in the tank. (Scrubbing, boiling, soaking, etc.)

Necio I'd be cautious. My understanding of vines is that they're more pourous and brittle than wood which may cause them to break down faster. Depending on what's in the tank (a BN might eat thru it in a week ) you may do okay, especially if this wasn't done as a long term piece. Like frank said, same prep process, althoug be careful about boiling it for too long.

If they are grape or other vine roots or twisted stems. I would be more than extremly carefull. Corect me if I am wrong do or donot they spray a lot of chemicals in vinyards.

Yeah you are guys are probably right... it is far too risky to try it with garpe vine... Like kieth said they probably do chems to them.... I think I will leave them
