Ive recently heavily planted my tank so im after some algae eaters. Can anyone recommend what are the best algae eaters that you can buy.
Ive kept plec's before they grow large and end up pulling half of the plants up. Ive never had otto's by someone recommended them to me and ive also been recommended to get some amano shrimp but im worried about them escaping from the tank.

Suggestions please

ottos would be excellent. they wont bother your plants but still eat plenty of algae and are very peaceful.

What size of tank is it and what kind of algae are you battling?

Go with ottos or a BN as they stay small.

Amano shrimp are not phenomenal algae eaters; if presented with fish food, they will all but ignore the algae. Like it has been said, we need to know what algae is appearing in your tank.

You can get a couple of Oto's or a BN.

I had the same question in mind. Can someone enlighten me as to what a BN is?

Thanks, Don

"BN" is an abbreviation for "Bristlenose Pleco" (Ancistrus spp.).
