carpe_diem Fish Addict *Dreamer* Posts: 555 Kudos: 292 Votes: 51 Registered: 18-Apr-2004 | Lately i keep finding my bn upside down on its back and it cant get back up. Ive had it for around 4 years now.. is this an old age thing? or is there something wrong with it?? He doesnt seem to get around as well as he used to either and has problems moving around on the gravel. Has anyone had similiar experiences ? |

A 4 year old BN is not old. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

I'll find them on their back but they are fine... Are you sure that it indeed "cannot" get up? If so then I suppose there would be a problem... And how do you mean that it has problems moving around the gravel?? |

carpe_diem Fish Addict *Dreamer* Posts: 555 Kudos: 292 Votes: 51 Registered: 18-Apr-2004 | its really lethargic.. for the past week it has been ok and stayed upright (im always checking!) but when it comes to moving around the gravel it moves alot slower than it used to.. |

My BNs usually live for 7 years, at the ultimate minimum, I've got one thats going on 11. Real cute story to go with that. Anyways, check the water quality. Go ask your LFS if they can do a nice little free check of your water quality. Most of them will do it for you. Another possibility is that there is an internal tumor of some kind that is disrupting your BN's normal activities. Down with tumors! |

Is this due to the tank size? its a 20g and he has pretty much been the main occupant apart from 10 cory fry which joined him in december and 1 lonely tetra. (i realise this tank needs some work ) |
