My large common pleco (several years old) has been acting silly lately. He will sometimes lay on his back and swim around on the surface of the water with his mouth skimming the surface. Then he also "stands up" with the tip of his nose out of the water and swims vertically like this...almost like a ballerina twirling. He doesn't seem distressed at all and after a few minutes returns to sucking on the something or cruising around the tank. Nothing is wrong with him that I can see. Has he just now discovered this is a fun activity? Anybody else have a pleco that does this?

Well, that is IME... 4 of them doing just like ballerina as stated above. Trying to compete for food that's floating at the surface. so that's why i believe that it's a normal behaviour.
