quick question about my corys again.

they are still in my 40g at the moment which is very bare, with just couple plants and sand substrate, this is slowly being filled with rocks before turning into a african cichlid tank.

so i don't want to house the corys in it for much longer, but will they be ok in a heavily planted tank? there will be no open swimming space on the substate very soon, as i have even more plants being delievered to me.

and it will be very hard to see them and check they are ok and feeding

thanks Karl

Well they will like the plants, maybe just leave a few square inches of bare samd for them. They will still enjoy going through the plant roots etc.....

Are you going to have a small open space?. At least in front of the tank.
The Corydoras will be fine with lots of plants, rocks & sand.

What type of Cichlids are you going to house in the planted tank?.

Just leave them a little room to lounge around. I have caught my cories hanging out resting on fake plant leaves, not sure if they would do it on real plants.

If you're moving the Corys from a 40 to a 72, they'll LOVE you. Especially if it's well planted.

If you have some bogwood pieces in there as well that form overhangs and caves for them, your Corys will be in Cory heaven. That's how I set up my main aquarium - bogwood caves and arches, pretty heavy planting, but with open gravel spaces. I draped Java Moss and Java Ferns on my bogwood and created a nice lush underwater rainforest yet still left open gravel areas for them to dig around in. The Pandas ferret around all over the place (including the roots of my Amazon Swords) and love their surroundings.

If you have a 72G set up like that, but with additional carpets of, say, Pigmy Chain Swords, then I suspect your Corys will be VERY happy indeed. I wouldn't worry unduly provided you're not overstocking, and you're up to speed with regular maintenance chores. Those Corys are in for a treat!
