Normally when the barbels on a Corydoras start to shorten, it is because there are too many nitrates present in the tank. Cories are sensitive to nitrates, and can be weakened enough by high levels so as to become ill. Test your water parameters, and start doing water changes more often. That will bring down your nitrates to a lower level, which will make all of your fish happy.
