Corys, Bettas and Gouramis | |
Cowch Fingerling Posts: 41 Kudos: 29 Votes: 0 Registered: 10-Sep-2005 | I currently have a 10 gallon tank with a Golden Gourami and four Corys. My Gourami has started chasing my Corys. I just got a new ten gallon tank with the intention of putting my Betta in it. Would it be better to put my Betta in with the Corys and give the Gourami his own home? |

But regardless of that, they still get much too large to be kept in a 10 gallon tank. Your gourami is probably acting aggressive towards the corys because it feels cramped and cannot claim enough territory. In an appropriately-sized tank (40 gallons or more), Gold Gouramis are generally peaceful surface-dwelling fish that ignore any catfish on the bottom. I suggest that you return the gourami to the store and get a shoal of small tetras/barbs/danios, or trade it for a Dwarf or Honey Gourami (both of which get about 2" in length maximum). I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

Unless you have a larger suitable tank I suggest you take the Gourami back to where you bought it. If you are getting another 10g tank one more Betta tank this time try Cardinal Tetras and a few Ottos they go very well together.
