A clown pleco would work, as well, if you've got some driftwood in the tank. Those, in my opinion, are probably the best for your situation. Its possible that any dwarf pleco might work, though. Both fish are nicely sized for a 20 gallon aquarium. However, a good question for you is, "What type of algae do you have?"
