hi everybody
i read somewhere that clown loaches only live for 4 yrs..

is there any truth to the 4 yr life span?
if its true than that sucks.. they still feel like my babies
i have had my six loaches for about 2 yrs and i am very attached to them..im not sure how old they where when i bought them at the store, they where about 1 1/2 inches when i got them and there about 4-4 1/2 inches now.
i think fish stores should tell you the life expectancy of your fish when purchasing so its not a surprise...i know i know a little research goes a long way..
any thought or suggestions plz
thanx
michael

No truth at all. Even tetras can beat that age. My guess would be that these fish live at least 15 years. BTW, they'll become 1' long behemoths in a couple years, so you'll need at least a 6' tank for them to happily live out an extended life.

I have several that I know I have had for about 18 years now. In the wild they certainly can live a lot longer.

They grow about 10mm--3/8th of 1ins per year and this seems to happen in spurts when they are younger also they appear to go a paler colour as they get older.

To get them to a good age it is a lot of luck and a big tank mine is only 5ft and plenty of a good variety of foods.
In My Profile you will see the many things I have fed them over the years also several older photos in PB

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
