They are still small though so I guess they are young. I know nothing about breeding or fry or any of that. How many adult pandas do you have? And what size tank? |

I didn't plan to have them spawn, they decided to do it themselves. I have seen 7 babies so far. They are in a community tank with 3 ottos (one is a zebra otto) and 7 neons. |

If you look at a mature group of these fish from above, the difference is easy to see. All Corydoras species can be sexed in this manner, as few exhibit sexual dimorphism. |

Oh, and when she was ready to tango, so to speak, she looked full. Meanwhile, congratulations on your Panda babies! Post pics soon! ![]() |

Hunt through this thread for one of my later posts for more details. ![]() It's going to be complete and utter madness in the Panda Fun Palace™ when the new guys join the existing crew and bump up the numbers to 12. 12 Pandas in one aquarium should equal utter comic mayhem! ![]() ![]() |

When I had two shoals of Characins in there, the Pandas were spawning like mad - sometimes twice in a week. With LOTS of comedy collision moments between testosterone-fuelled male Pandas and Lemon Tetras, including several occasions when the Pandas were so out of their heads on hormones that they tried to T-position the Lemons! If anything, they seem to miss the other fish after my wipeout destroyed my Characin shoals, and seem less lively without the Characins as playmates. Perhaps mine need the reassurance of seeing other fish above them as a sign that there's no danger from the air, so to speak ... ![]() |

In fact, they are probably the easiest of the corydoras, behind the humble aeneus, to spawn. Do keep temperatures at a somewhat lower level. They appreciate cooler temperatures, and will often only spawn thusly. Last edited by Cup_of_Lifenoodles at 16-Dec-2005 08:33 |
