Can someone tell me about this fish? The red finned oto/false sucker, could that be suitable for my ten gallon tank? And where could I find one? Thanks

umm. can i ask why not an otto, but i did alittle research and really they are kinda the same being related, the only really difference is on the parotocinclus maculicauda it has a adipose fin where on the otto it is not. and the head is alittle thicker. i think the care is the same, but keep the water conditions in good shape.

Oh, AT LAST someone else has alighted upon this MUCH underrated and lovely fish!

One on its own might be OK in a 10G, but I'd hesitate to put more in unless you're planning on that being a species aquarium for them, because they grow to be larger than Otocinclus. Not much larger, but they do grow bigger.

Personally, I'd either keep 3 in there and NOTHING ELSE, or if there are other fishes in there, put one in on the understanding that it's going to be a temporary home while you find somewhere larger for it to go in the near future along with 3 companions of its own species.

Make sure you're diligent with the water changes and gravel vacs also, as in a 10G, you'll have some fun maintaining decent water quality.

Saldy, right now, that species is incredibly rare around here - if they turned up I'd snap them up like a shot, provided my bank manager didn't have a seizure in the process

Hmm. . .I do keep up my water changes right now I have:
1 male betta
1 guppy
2 harlequin rasboras
2 platies

I want something to go on the bottom and then I am planning on upgrading to a 55 gallon (though I don't know when yet *hint hint parents) I am thinking of

2 otos OR
1 false sucker OR
2 khuli loaches

to complete the tank before I upgrade would that be ok?

A group of four would have no problem in a ten gallon, imo.
