can any one tell me what sort of age /size BN plecs will start to show thier sex differences ie bristles .i ask this question as i currently have 2 different age spawn in my tank and have the older ones earmarked for friends and relatives, but as the males are territorial i wish them to not go into the same tanks two females on the other hand should not be so bad i believe.they are currently around 3/4 inch long feeding like mad and all over the tank.i dont know if it makes a difference but they are Bushynosed triads.sorry i dont know the L number.
thanks

Ronnie

The bristles should start to show when they have reached about 7cm or 3in. As long as the tank is large enough there won't be too much aggression between males.

Far from being an expert I would thing it could depend totally on the species/variety. As far as the males being territorial I think you will find they are protecting their nesting area or waiting to entice a female into it for breding. They also could be looking after eggs or very small fry.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
