I'll be placing a fish order soon and I'd like to know about clown plecs. I've read the profile here and other info but I'm interested in personal experiences.

It would be going into my 20l, which is heavily planted, has two large pieces of driftwood and one small...other fish include harlequins, sparkling gouramis, cherry barbs, and kuhli loaches. Would I have a problem adding one to this tank, especially with the kuhlis?

I only have experience with BNs and my sailfin. One BN is nocturnal, the other is not...do clown plecs tend to be nocturnal or can they become more active during the day once comfortable in the tank?

I've read about their need/like for wood, and also fruits & veggies. Are there particular fruits they like? Any to avoid?

And any other info would be very much appreciated

I have never personally actually kept this species (I had originally spawned and raised for several years a species of peckoltia which I had mistakened for P. maccus), but I work with them often. They do enjoy wood and prefer vegetable/fruit rinds over the meat. Any vegetable with a fibrous peel will be fine. They are quite personable as opposed to larger panaque.

i have 3 of these in my 50g and they are pretty damn cute little plecos. they were active at any and all hours of the day and night, but even moreso if there was food in the tank that they really liked. mine have a taste for (real) zuchini and spirulina disks. in fact, i have a pic around here somewhere of one of my clown plecos facing off against my clown loach over one of these disks, but it's on the other computer. if i find it, i'll come back and post it
