Hi!

Havent posted in a while, but thought I would drop by. And wanted to get an opinion.

Well a few months ago (4-5) I got a little tiny female blue ram from a petshop. (You can find the posts about her in the cichlid forum archives). But she has grown tremendously and is very pink in the belly and aggressive. I would say she is close to two inches if not two. Here is an updated photo (very bad).http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc143/RNJ_Punk/rams011.jpg This photo does her no justice, she is very pretty. But you get the idea.

Well, I have been trying for a few motnhs to find her a mate.(You can see my first attempt for a mate for her in the hospital archive uner New Male Ram: Skinny) .My LFS finally decided to give in and special order some for me and I was so happy to find the little one inchers at the shop. I can home with what I thought was a male (but you cant really tell at the shop because thier colors werent showing. But after getting her home her belly turned red and I knew I had another female. Unfortunately she did not make it.

So I went back and came home with 2 more little guys. Who I am hoping are guys. They both have longer fins than the female, more yellow and orange on theier faces and chests, one having a longer dorsal spike. One of them has a little pinkish in its belly but I hear soemtimes males do have a little pink. Both have little tempers.

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc143/RNJ_Punk/rams002.jpg The one with no pink on the belly. But no spike.

http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc143/RNJ_Punk/rams005.jpg The one with a little pink, and a small spike.

They all live herehttp://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc143/RNJ_Punk/rams016.jpg in my 55 gallon planted community.

All are doing well, eating great and exploring theier new home.

Let me know what your opinions are!

Coloration is not the determining factor when it comes to sexing rams. Look at their fins. Females will have a rounded fin while males will have pointed fins.
