I'm looking at a trio of Apistogramma trifasciata with some interest. Would these work out in my 55 with 4 juvie angelfish, 2 blue rams, cardinal & rummy nose tetras, and my 3 platies? Any issues here?

I would not put apistos in with rams, simply because they tend to want the same territories, and apistos can be very aggressive for their size. I would go with one or the other (rams or apistos) but not both. The angels shouldn't be a problem with either as far as aggression, though if breeding is the goal with these species, then you probably will not have a great deal of success.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Nope, no breeding in mind....just colorful fishies. I mean, I wouldn't complain if any of my fish wanted to breed (except for the platies...they've done enough ), but that's not my goal.

I was worried about aggression between the Apistos and the rams, but the person that has them says that she keeps them with her rams with no problems. I have two HUGE pieces of driftwood in that 55 perhaps they could set-up seperate territories? I don't have my heart set onit so I won't go there if there's going to be issues. I already have the rams.

I think your tank is more than large enough for the rams and apistos to set up separate territories. I'd go for it.

I would like to think so too. Man, there are so many little caves in those two pieces of driftwood it's ridiculous. Then there's all the clumps of plants. The rams seem to like the cabomba...they're sleeping in it at night. They're not mine yet, I'm still competeing for them in a bid....I'll let y'all know...any other input def. appreciated.
