I usually don't venture too much out of the planted tank forum, but by chance I came to this thread.

Hi, yes, I had and have Cacs. What kind of questions do you have? If it is basic stuff then Google will give you plenty of research ground.

Have fun,

I was wondering more about peoples personal opinions about them and/or personal experiences. I have a fish keeping magazine with an article on them in it, that's what got me interested in them. I've done my research but if i want them i would have to order them online, so before i did that i was just wondering what people thought of them.

Beautiful little cichlids, I kept and still keep a few of them. Are you thinking about an addition to a community tank, a species tank or a dwarf cichlid tank? Ask a specific question and myself as welll as others will answer them

I was thinking a tank just for them, right now i have two clown pleco in that tank. The clown pleco are my main concern becasue they are very agressive, when i get rid of my gibby pleco in my downstairs tank im going to put one of the clowns in that one. Hopefully with each of them haveing more room they wont be as agressive.

The tank i am planning on putting the cichlids in is a 29 gallon long.

That should be perfect - I suggest you get a male and probably two females or more. They are cave spawners, so make sure that you have cave like hideouts for the ladies. A. cacatuoides also appreciates a planted tank. Food wise they take good quality flakes or pellets and frozen food (mine dine on blood worms, beefheart, brine shrimp).
I've never heard of an aggressive clown pleco, I have one very similar in my tank and it is extremely mild and adorable. They get to 4" maxium, are you sure it is a clown pleco? Here is a pic of one:
