ConvictCurvicep Small Fry Posts: 7 Kudos: 2 Votes: 0 Registered: 30-May-2007 | I walked by my tank the other day and had to look really close to find 2 of my female convicts. After a while I found them holed up in 2 seperate terra cotta pots that have placed in the tanks for breeding. This morning I have wrigglers! I have had them before, but never 2 females at once. I find this awesome and a new experiance for me, as I get to watch how this all plays out. I have also just figured out that my female curvicep has laid eggs as well. So, I will be over run with babies for a while. Fish are friends, Not Food. -Bruce(Finding Nemo) |

ConvictCurvicep Small Fry Posts: 7 Kudos: 2 Votes: 0 Registered: 30-May-2007 | The tank is a 55 gallon. But, I have moved all the other fish from the tank as soon as the babies were born. I also placed a divider between my two pairs to keep them from fighting. By the way, this is in my convict tank. I moved the other tank mates, other convicts, into a 75 gallon tank were the the two pair will go once the babies are older. The males are really aggressive, hence the divider. And in my experiance the females are just as agressive as the males, if not worse. The tank is a Species tank only. Now, my curviceps are in a species only tank as well, except for the algae eater, which hides alot. Both the male and female are eqaully agressive in this tank as well. I have even been nipped by the male with the new babies in the tank. Fish are friends, Not Food. -Bruce(Finding Nemo) |
