Hello.

I have just woke up this morning to a brood of baby Kribs! They are my first. Didnt even know I had eggs! The male and female are in a tank on their own with their babies. I am just wondering what to feed them, do I have to feed them anything special?

Thanks

i would suggest you pick up some cultures of vinegar eels... and also go out and get some atemia or baby brine shrimp! also starts oem daphnia cultures as well!

good luck and hope those babies do well!

Once they become free swimming and lose their yolk sac, they are large enough to take on finely crushed flake foods. I have raised somewhere around a couple thousand kribs of multiple species. I have always just fed them finely crushed/powdered flake foods and never had a problem.

Get yourself a small second container for the fry food. Take some of your normal flake food and just grind it up very finely, or close to a powder size. As they will not go to the surface at the smaller sizes, it helps to swirl your finger in the food that is floating so as to make it sink quicker. Feed them at the same time you feed the adult fish. Feed them 2-4 times per day and they will grow quickly. They should be eating from the normal sized flakes within 3-4 weeks.

Goody. I am getting 10 krib fry around 1cm in size soon. Nice to know they don't need any really difficult feeding.

As they grow, they should pair off, yes?
Then I can trade off the unpaired ones and just keep the pair who like each other the most, yes?

I have never even seen a real life krib before but I have a nice planted tank all cycled and ready.

Yep, they will pair off for you. They will be mature within the first year.
