Setting up a 55 and want to stock it with some bala sharks and angels, and some bottom feeders. Any suggestions? Is this a bad combination? Should I alter the water at all for the cichlids?

Ahh, just read a 55 is two small for Balas. I do like the angels, though. Do I have to adjust the ph for them? And can I keep non cihlids in the same tank?

If your pH is around the middle, it's fine. Angelfishes can do well in a larger range compared to many other cichlids.

They are also more peaceful, so you have a lot of options to choose from. Most community fishes are all right, but the tinier ones might run into some trouble.

Thanks,
I was thinking some Gouramis and loaches or cories. Sounds like I should keep my tetras in my 10 gallon. Do the angels get along with one another?

The Bala sharks and Clown loaches will get far to big for that tank but there are other smaller loaches. Also there are smaller gourami, the Opaline are a very hardy variety they are a blueish colour and love to be in a school. The Anglels do get on well together but I am not to sure of their behaviour if they become a breeding pair with other Angels in the same tank.

Have a look in [link=My Profile] http://www.fishprofiles.com/forums/member.aspx?id=1935[/link] for my tank info
