Will a bristlenose last in a ciclid tank? I dont want to take the guy back to the LFS if he will go in my new ciclid tank. Thanks

Thanks for your input as always, Shane

Depends entirely on which cichlids you keep, and the size and setup of your tank. Smaller species from the correct compatible water conditions with plenty of cover and bogwood structures so the plec can hide probably will work, but if youre planning on red terrors, midas cichlids, flowerhorns or convicts etc, in a sparsely decorated tank, the answer is probably no.

We'd need more details.

LHG i really havent decided what ciclids im going to put in there yet. i have yet to decide if i should use my new 75 gallon that i am going to buy or use my 35 gallon for the ciclids. Currently the 35 gallon is being made ready for a temporary home for my comunity fish out on my 30 gal thats bowing. However im under the impression you cannot keep many ciclids in a 35 gallon AQ. im not to familiar with ciclids any more and need to read up on them. Any good site or book suggestions?

There are many types and locations of cichlids. if you could narrow it down to what your looking for i could help you find sites with plenty of reading material.

South American, african, lakes, cichlids are the most diverse fish on the planet haveing every personality and oddity you can think of. Sizes range from feet to under 2 inches. They can be as colorfull as salt water and agression levels can range from hopelessly passive to endless killers.

The best advice i can give is read...alot. If you dont see something you like then keep looking because there is something for everyone.

hope this helps some, i can be more helpfull if you can narrow the search a little. good luck and have fun. take your time and you will end up with a tank that will last you decades.
