spankym13![]() Hobbyist Posts: 147 Kudos: 56 Votes: 1 Registered: 08-Jun-2007 ![]() ![]() | Hey ya'll I've got two blue rams. my females been around for a month and my male about 2-3 weeks. lately my male has been chasing my female a bit yet they still seem to hang out from time to time whats going on? also the female has seemed to lose a little color. any ideas? also when i got my male he was pure yellow on since he's been in my tank he's no pure yellow any more is something wrong? |

Might be worth checking that your nitrates are as low as possible, certainly under 20 ppm with this species. Also a long term downturn in condition happens with blue rams if consistantly kept under 80f. Worth checking too, is that the hardness is low and the ph is fairly acid, rams often wane when the water is too hard and the ph is too high. Sometimes unreceptive females can make a male quite aggressive, if the water perams are checking out ok try a little livefood like bloodworm to get them more in the mood, and perhaps their pair bond will grow a little stronger. Anything that takes a ram off peak condition, especially water pollution can make them less colourful and often less tolerant of company. If one fish isnt happy it often reflects on the other, and chances of compatible pairings can fade. |
