I've got a 20gal hex with one bolivian and some tetra. Cant tell if it male or female only tail has lil extension on corners. I was told I should get another ram for it to have a friend. Would it matter male or female as i dont think i got the room if they had babys. If i got a male would it make mine any more happy? Also the petco in my town has three that have a lot of color and one has long extensions. mine is more of a grey with no other color really but red on the fins

Rams prefer opposite sexes, another male isnt likely to cheer it up much, indeed there may be some conflict. You might just end up with two fish that end up at opposite sides on the tank, worried about infringing each others territorial space. Post a piccy of it, I can probably sex it.
