My 20g tank has a group of danios and cories. I'm wondering what would be a good cichlid that I could keep with these fish?

an intense blue altered ram would add color, given the tank is very dark, it should look nice.

A ram or apistogramma would be a good centerpiece.

Andy,

Welcome to FP

Yes, a ram would look nice, but

How long is the tank set up for already? Rams are rather sensitive to water quality and should preferably not be added to tanks that are not fully established. This is not the same then cycled, establishing takes up to 6 months (of not messing with the tank, like rearranging the substrate etc).

An easier fish to keep would be one of the gouranies, like a dwarf or honey.

And Chris - could you be so kind and let me know what you mean by "intense blue altered ram" ? I am very intersted in learning more about it. Thanks in advance .

Have fun,

Ingo

Thank you.

I like gouramis but would they be ok with the danios?

Welcome to FP.

Yes, the Gourami will be fine with the Danios, but i prefer the Ram suggestions, as they are very beautiful & colourful fish.

BTW, how many fish do you have in the tank?.

i have the 5 zebra danios, 3 cories. I am about to add 3 more zebra danios, and a bristlenose pleco.

I have decided on a pearl gourami

If the tank is new, dont get a ram. I tried it and it dies within 2 days...
