Hey i have got 7 convic cichlids they are all doing just fine. There are 3 larger ones and 4 smaller ones, but the are not harming them yet.
i was wondering if i could put some salvini cichlids in the same tank? i have driftwood and same rocks and a few plants that are being destroyed.

Cheers

No... no salvinis. I'm wondering how long your convicts will last. If they haven't already reached maturity they may all stay alive and well for a little while but sooner or later SERIOUS aggression will take place. I would either:

1. Remove all of the convicts
2. Keep 1 breeding pair in the tank and nothing else
3. Keep 1 convict and put other cichlids like salvinis in with it
4. Prepare yourself for battle

Youre still not getting this, you need to give some of those fish away, not add more.

Im gonna spell it out for you because its not getting through.

THEY WILL KILL EACH OTHER, AND MOST OTHER FISH YOU TRY TO HOUSE WITH THEM.

YOU HAVE ROOM FOR ONLY TWO.

This is one of the most aggressive of all fish you can keep. The fight, they rage , they kill. If you dont sort it out and drop those numbers or split them up you will be responsible for fish abuse. Watching them kill themselves because of ignorance when you have been told is a real heartbreaker. Dont do it. Sort it out asap. You cant have that many specimens of that species in the size of tank yu have. Its just not doable in any context. They are young, so give some away while you still have the chance.

In a few months you will not recognise the personalities of these fish. They will make you regret ever having owned them unless you sort out the numbers. Better to give five away than just have them die in your tank. Because that is what will happen.
