Little did I know that they would be huge terrors. They demolished my angel before I could see any signs of agression. Although I have half a mind to introduce them to my shovelnose to teach them a lesson (note I am just kidding and would never do that), I want to know what I can put with them. Recently I moved my frontosa, which is about five inches, with them but they even chomped on his fins. I was thinking a small polypterus but now I'm not sure. Any ideas? |

A full grown angel at 6 to nearly 10 inches tall should be able to beat a blue ram to pulp! Likewise with a frontosa, in fact a frontosa should be able to beat the hell out of all of the aforementioned fish with one fin tied behind its back! Sure you havent been given Anomolachromis thomasi by mistake? They can be a little nasty sometimes. Only other explanation is that if they are blue rams they may be about to breed. Had a blue ram that bullied bolivian rams once, but to see a pair take on a frontosa or an angel seems extraordinary. Im pretty sure in my tanks such behaviour would get them killed! Are you sure its rams doing it, or has a bout of finrot struck? Lol , I could lend you a baby blue acara, even at 1 inch he'd scatter em ![]() |

My water conditions were absolutely perfect and there fins weren't touched. Granted the angel and frontosa were wimpy (the angel was beat up by 1/4 inch dwarf puffers), but they completely ate him! I may pick up the 8 inch electric cat at my LFS to teach them who's boss lol |

But the Rams behavior does beg the question if what you have is really a blue rams, as this is totally uncommon for them. Or are they getting ready to breed? Are there any signs of breeding? such as them staking out an area of the tank or constant cleaning of a spot? If they are getting ready to breed it would explain this, Other than that I've never seen rams act like this. Present: L183, L114, L330, LDA33, L059, L340, L136, L399, Clown, Whip Tail Past: L001, L239, L200, L134, L030, L110, L204, L260, LDA08, L226, Ancistrs sp3 albino as well as calico, L187 (sp2), Common Hypostomus punctatus |

There color and fins perfectly match most every picture of a blue ram I've ever seen. As far as breeding goes, I'm in college and the tank is at home so I wont be able to check til this weekend. |
