Ok, as everyone knows, we have 3 juvie discus. Now, the common "dither fish" seem to be neons or cardinals. What if we don't want those? Is there something else in the tetra family that works as well? Im looking for info on people with experience. Bleeding Hearts? Von Rios? Blues? Rummys?

A good recommendation is Rummy Nose Tetras. Hardier than either neons or cardinals, they are also less likely to be snacked upon than a neon.

Rummys are a very common tetra put with discus. What about Head & Tail Lights Tetras, Lemon tetras, Diamond tetras or Pristellas?

I have a mixture of rummys, neons and black neons and I have no problems at all.

I also keep bristlenoses in there with the discus without any trouble.

I've kept discus with hatchet fish. The hatchets patrol the top of the tank. I've also kept discus with strawberry tetras.
