![]() | Discus tank question |
twault![]() Hobbyist Posts: 140 Kudos: 106 Votes: 0 Registered: 21-Oct-2003 ![]() ![]() | My LFS has some Discus, and I think I'm finally ready for the challenge. I have a 55g set up with a Severum, which obviously won't work. I was hoping to get a LARGE tank (125g+), but I don't think the budget (or wife) will allow it. I was wondering if a 40 gallon HEX tank would be ok for a pair or so (no more than 3)? I found one fairly reasonably priced. I know they prefer high tanks, but I didn't know if they would have enough swim space in the confines of a Hex. I don't want to go bare minimum, and I really don't want to move or get rid of my Severum, so is this a feasible solution? |

Add lots of bogwood first, and perhaps other structure, then the plants, mak territories and hiding spots ![]() Before getting discus tho, what is the hardness of your water ? Inquire to as to the source of the discus at the store and the ph they were raised in. If too different from your water you will need to use RO water or methods using peat to soften it up.
