Ok, I've been going crazy trying to figure this one out. But whats up is I have a flower horn that is about 7 inches long. Hes in a 55g tank all by himself. He has two large pots to use as caves. The tank is basicly right in a direct walking path threw my apartment. And until the other day, its never been a problem.

Hes been in this tank by himself for almost a year now and in the tank over all for almost 2 years. Problem is now when anybody walks by, no matter time of day (except feeding time), he freaks out and either darts toward the other end of the tank, or will jump and basicly hit the lids. He has slightly injured himself once by doing this and I'm trying to look for some help as far as what could cause this all of a sudden.

If having to move his tank is my only option, then as I have started to come to possible terms, is that I will have to find him a new home. I hate to, but if it will keep him growing, I gotta.

I'm not sure the affect on him, but when I know I will be walking back and forth, for the past 2 days, I've covered the open front of his tank so he isnt startled. and uncovering him when nobody will be around.

Its what they call a traffic area, classic bad place to put a fish tank, they see no-one all day, then someone shoots past. Its a constant suprise several times a day without someone being around long enough for them to get used to. Just move the aquarium to somewhere either completely quiet, or where people are almost constantly.

Think of it reacting to humans as if they are a large predator drifting past. If one was around all the time , and they know it means no harm cos the attack never comes, they get used to the idea, in a completely quiet room with no-one about theres nothing to fear anyway, but corridors just see people move past at speed, and the fish freak.

Its quite common behaviour, its just the aquarium is in the wrong place in the home.

he sees someone all day long. i'm in a 1 room apartment, the 55 (his tank), 20g, 150g and 40g are all basicly in the same location in the room.

ok. I understand all that, but again, hes been in the same spot for almost 2 years, nothings changed, the people around him hasnt changed, nor has who feeds him changed. not even the layout in his tank has changed.
