Now, for the last few days the gt has been swimming very aggresively, especially when i near the tank. He is ascting so crazy he tore a chunk of scales off by running into some of the rocks or drift wood in the tank. Has anyone seen this before and is it a problem. chris |

If water is fine he's probably just very happy to see you! Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

You could have a male that's itching to meet up with a female and start breeding. Quite a few big Cichlids become berserkers when Spring is in the air, so to speak (and for that matter some of the smaller ones too - Neetroplus nematopus is a psychotic little demon when it's in breeding mode). Determine the gender of your fish. Then, see if you can get a partner for it. I'd introduce the partner carefully though - egg crate style divider for the first couple of weeks while the fishee get used to each other. Once they stop regarding each other as territorial competitors, and start getting frisky, you can try removing the divider. Be prepared to intervene swiftly if it all goes wrong, however. Oh, and if you think your fish is a berserker now, wait until you see it breeding. The moment you put your hand in that aquarium once the Green Terrors have fry to care for, your hand becomes, in their eyes, an enemy to be dispatched resolutely and ruthlessly. They'll leave nice teeth marks in your hand. |
