Well, it hasnt been too long since
I got my Nanochromis Transvestitus,
but watching today and yesterday, I see
that the large male has paired up with the dominant
female in the tank, and they seem to be
exploring all the caves together and chasing away
the other fish.
I cant believe it! Im so excited!
Hopefully I will see eggs and possibly fry soon.
I will try to get some pics of the pair tonight,
they seem to be sticking together fairly closely.

Well, I tried to get some pics last night,
but the shots didnt turn out, the glass seems
dirty through the lens.
So today I will scrub the glass, and see if I
can get some shots tonight.
I am so excited!
The large female has the purplest belly Ive ever seen
(could put a krib to shame), and has been showing off
non-stop to the male.
They have been going around thoroughly inspecting every
available cave in the tank, trying to find their perfect
love nest I assume.
I will be going out next weekend to find some better caves,
more suitable for them (shallower and more defensible),
to replace the coffee mug caves.
I am now debating what to do with the other 2
females...whether to sell them, keep them, and
if so what tank to keep them in.
The pair is striving to show its dominance over the other
two females, and some ragged fins are showing evidence of the aggressiveness of these little fish once paired.
Well, Im super excited.
Today I will be putting some more peat in the filter,
and im going to start doing small water changes more regularly to keep the water super clear.
Ive started conditioning the adults on a high protein
diet, and hope to see a spawn soon!

More to come later!
