Jewels and kribs should be okay together. What size tank? A better than 'pretty big' please!

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes. That way you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Personally I wouldn't. The fish will probably get along ok, but if they start to breed you will have problems.

The kribs will be ok because they are secretive (cave) breeders and will protect the immediate area. The jewels are open spawners and will want a larger area of the tank.
Acaras would be a better chice as they are not as aggressive as the jewels.

I personally have kept breeding pairs of both acaras and kribs in the one tank (a 55 gallon). I would just be careful to set the breeding areas at opposite ends of the tank.

Good luck
