Not sure as we don't know what else you have in there with them. As for leaving them with the parents, yes they make great parents. The fry are easy to raise. Once they become free swimming, I have always just used finely crushed or powdered flakes with mine. I have kept 1-5 pairs of different species of kribs continuously breeding over the last 10 years. There is always a bigger fish... |

More than half of your fish will probably get them before they become large enough to be safe. Basically you have two opptions here; First, I would say to move your pair to the breeding tank as soon as it is available. Take their breeding cave with them, and they will soon breed again. And there they will raise the fry very well. Again, just start them on powdered flakes once they become free swimming. Secondly, you can move the breeding cave to a tank of its own, and use an air stone to create a good flow across the eggs till they hatch (don't let the air hit the eggs, just a current of water (this is one way of tumbling eggs). After they hatch it takes several days before they will be free swimming. Until they are free swimming they will not eat as they still have an egg yolk sack attached. This is not as good of a way to do it. As the fish will grow more quickly if raised with the parents. There is always a bigger fish... |
