I used to have a fantastic breeding pair of Kribs in my community tank but unfortunatly the male died about a year ago. I have just finally got around to buying a new male for my female but at the moment they do not seem to be getting on and the female constanly chases the male and has now got to a point where the male is hiding alot and i rarely see it. I have only had the new male for 3 days. Do you think that this behavour will continue or will they begin to like each other and the male start coming out and hopefully pair up with the female. Any comments and advice would be helpful. thanks

If they are the only two, most likely they will end up pairing up. But there is always the chance not. The thing is, the female is testing the male to see if he is quality enough to spawn with her. Is your male smaller? Most likely he is if your female is an older female, and you just got the male. As the male gets larger and matures more, he will most likely start acting more aggressive and thus become the male that the female is wanting. It may take months, so just give them a chance. She will have to learn that her male is not coming back, and there is a new guy in town.

good advice, just give it some time. my last pair took some time to get on the same page so just play the waiting game, if you have a male and female they will almost always pair up.

It's better to add a male that it's the same size of the female, but the male need more time to settle, as 3 days are really not enough.
