It has the egg spots so I think it is a he. He is being a punk right now, he is chasing the juvenile yellow electrics that come into the territory he staked out as well as the Synodotis. It's a 90 gallon tank, so there is plenty of room still, but the juvenile yellows have been limited to half the tank now for a couple of days nows. So I think I'm going to bring him to the LFS tomorrow. I bought this guy without really knowing much about him. Is this fish really aggressive? I've heard about some cichlids being really aggressive such as electric blues and some other ones. Just didn't know about this guy. |

Hopefully that will deter the aggression. So I'll hang out to it for now. Edit: This fish is too big of a punk. I gave him to my brother for now. So its in my brother's 20X tank. Eventually though would have to get rid of him since he will get bigger |

Zebra, but split into its own species) - and both are notorious tank bullies. I had to get more rock and wood work in my tank (72G) to allow for peaceful community set ups. I have 2 Electic Yellows, and the dominant yellow has 'beef' with the Ellitus. I've found that as long as I have other equally sized fish, and other larger fish (I have an Ahli and Kadanga that are at least 6-7 inches) so the Ps. Elongatus and M. Emmiltos are kept in check. With a 90G, you should be able to introduce enough cover, and at least one more bigger, dominant (but not highly aggressive) cichlid to be able to keep the Zebra. I love my Ps. Elongatus and M. Emmiltos, as they are ALWAYS the highlight of my tank when people look at it (the stripping when these fish are in the right mood is STUNNING). Good luck! 72G Bowfront. 1 Sunshine Peacock, 2 Yellow Labs, 1 Ps. Elongatus, 1 Blue Ahli, 1 Red Kadanga, 1 Mel. Exasperatus, 1 metriaclima emmiltos, 1 Ancistrus. 14.5G 4 Neon Tetras. |
