Are you talking about the hybrid species, or the actual parrot cichlid.

red parrots are hybreds, either convict/red devil(i think) convict/severum etc....


anyway, i have had 2 groups of 14 inch adults over a 7 year period and the groups were around 8 (typical cichlid breeding, but this was not breeding intensional just pets)

anyway i did have a pair/pair off but i dont think that they can breed, as most of them are sterile.

I am asking this question, as a friend of mine breeded them & the fry looked like white Convicts.

sounds like your friends' were probably jellybean parrots. these are blood parrots that have been crossed with a pink convict to make them hardier and to increase fertility.
