I seen a few Red Texas Cichlids at the LFS. About 3-4" in size. They weren't RED in color at all? At what size would they actually turn red? Is the red version a natural color morph?

no, the red texas is a hybrid, most likely of a texas and a red shock flowerhorn. I've read that a real red texas should be showing red even at a very small size but I don't know how true that is.

Thanks again, you've been a great help Jason.

Any Red Texas owners have pics to share?

I have googled for images of the red texas before, my LFS said it wouldve been a dyed fish. I dont think we see a Red Texas here much, only the Green Texas.

nah, they're not dyed but they are hybrid. [link=click here]http://www.myflowerhorn.net/pictures.pdf" style="COLOR: #FF3300[/link] and scroll about halfway down the page. on the right half of the page about halfway down is a section for red texas and there is a very good pic of a male red texas. just a side note, that link is to a pdf file and may take a minute to open.

yes...nothing as ounced as a midas but males will get a nice hump. I just recently bought a ~6" texas male that has a nice hump already. I'll try to get a couple pics up later tonight.
