I have a Tanganijkan type tank, with lots of rockwork & a sandy substrate. I also have 3 Anubias attached to the rocks & in there i have alot of N.brichardi.

The tank is 300L & tomorrow i'm going to add 6 N.leleupi. Now my question is, what can i add, that is Tanganijkan & goes well with the fish that i have?.

Thanks alot in advance.

a nice colony of sheldwellders, or Altolamprologus would be nice (a pair of).

What do you mean by alot of N. brichardi? As in multiple generations?

I'd add some calvus or compressiceps as suggested above to help take down some of the leleupi and brichardi's fry. You'd also get away with a school of cyprichromis or the suggested shellies. A pair or two of julies or eretmodus could work also. And theres always the popular synodontis catfishes you could add.

I have 4 generations of N.brichardi in the tank & there are about 50 of them. Some are 1cm & some are 4cm from head to tail. I added 6 N.leleupi & they are fine, as i have alot of rocks & hopefully, i'll be adding more next week.

Thanks for your ideas guys........ I like the shell dwellers & the Calvus idea. I searched a bit as well & saw some nice Leptosoma. What do you thing about these fish?.

I'd downsize the group of brichardi to add some Cyprichromis leptosoma. They perfer to be in a largish shoal (some people keep them in trios and small schools, but generally its best to keep at least 10+) so it might become cramped with all the fish in there if you didn't take some brichardi out. They're neat fish and are constantly on the move in the upper columns so the brichardi probably won't bother them.

Well.... to down size the N.brichardi, i have to dismantle all the rock work, as i cannot find a good remedy to catch some of them.

I found some Leptosoma for sale here but they are about US$25 each. Are they that expencive?.

$25 is reasonable for nice adults. I'd look for fry if $25 is a bit heavy though they'll probably be hard to find.

As for catching the brichardi, i'd use the soda bottle tricks (cut the top off of soda bottles and invert it inside with part of the neck cut off). The fish usually swims in and doesn't know the way out for a while.

They weren't adults & i don't think they're worth the price. Today i saw some Calvus & they're quite nice as well.

I will try the bottle trap & hopefully get some N.brichardi.

Thanks alot.
