What's my fry eating? | |
mnventurer Hobbyist Posts: 66 Kudos: 31 Votes: 34 Registered: 10-Jun-2008 | Is it okay not to feed babies anything special? They seem to be eating something I can't see off of the gravel. I make sure to put sinking pellets/algae hoping they'll eat the small fragments that come off when it soaks up water. You may not be able to see them, but established tanks usually have a pretty well-established community of microfauna that make good first food for your fish. ><> |

I put the flakes in a little cup and mix it with a spoon and then put it in the fry tank. ~*~ Caviar? no thanks! ~*~ |

Have you changed their diet at all to keep up with their growth? If so what have you done? If they're hungry enough I'm sure that'll sustain 'em. I put extra tropical crisps in which are for the parents but the extras sit around when they're done eating. And I always make sure there's a bottom feader tablet, or atleast a piece of, sitting on the bottom. Once in a while I smash up some flakes with my fingers and sprinkle that in by the filter outlet so it gets forced down. They have top fins now and look a lot more like their parents rather than tadpoles. The parents seem to be helping by chewing up food and spitting it at the clusters of babies. These are the best fish! Saint Paul, Minnesota USA 20g Freshwater Started June 10th 2008 -> Tank Info In Profile <- |
