I would probably try for the most variety I could get, within reason. I would research which colorful cichlids go well together, and build my tank around a couple of showpiece fish. Personally, the Bolivian Rams are my favorite Cichlids right now. There's just somuch you can do with that sort of space... I would have a tough time filling it as well.

Don't want to appear thick but what are the tanks dimensions - 180g means nothing to me, in the UK we usually have the tank size written rather than the amount of water it holds?

Id go for a larger cichlid community with species like chocolate cichlids, twin spot flags etc, or perhaps have a community of victorian cichlids.

6x2x2 is a good sized tank for a Malawi set up (I have 1), you could have some nice sized fish in there like Fossochromis Rostratus, Nimbochromis Venustus, Protomelas of any of the types, Aulonocaras etc etc
Very colourful and great fun to watch

Dont Peacock bass get to 28 inches????
Cichlid crazy that sounds good, but the fish would cost me a fortune over here
AAronfry: LOL

What i was thinking was:
an oscar
a JD
a texas
a severum
and a GT
Along with Cls or a big pleco on the bottom and maybe some Pictus

For dithers either Silver Dollars, Giant Danios, or Blind Tetras

Hmm ... 6ft x 2ft x 2ft.

How about something different?

Hoplarchus psittacus, the REAL "Parrot Cichlid" from South America (and NOT a hybrid)?

Take a peek here and see what you think. A bright green Cichlid that isn't a Dempsey, is much less aggressive (though still pretty feisty if it needs to be to look after itself) and a decent size too (35 cm as adults).

A breeding pair of these would set you apart from the run of the mill big Cichlid keeper!
