![]() | Which shellies are best? |

I know that most of you will say "Get a bigger tank," but in a dorm room, a 10 gallon is really all that I can have. I'm going to get some shellies and had planned on buying several multies. I'm just wondering, is that the only species I could keep in a 10 gal? I would really like to have some Gold ocellatus, even if I could keep fewer in the tank. Let me know what you think. |

Occies, stapps, brevis would pretty much be limited to one pair. Their really is no 'best' shellie, it just depends on what you like. A big difference from multies and the others is the fact that they don't require substrate, if any at all. Lots and lots of shells for multies and they'll be happy. The others like sand, and about 2-3 shells per fish. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

In terms of getting a pair, it is slim when only getting two juveniles. With multies I would probely get 6, you would most likey end up with a pair, maybe two. |

Juveniles are very difficult to sex. Most people would recommend buying 6 and see if any pair up eventually. The only problem with that is having something to do with the extra fish. I started with 8 multies in my 10g. I honestly don't know how many M/F I have, that's just laziness on my part ![]() ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
