Feed them Microworms for the first week & then continue with Live Brine Shrimp.
Do small water changes every 2 days.

Feed multiple times a day. With most fry, any time their bellies are empty, even for a minute, you're costing them a lot of growth speed. Keep the temperature up a bit (not excessively, of course), feed live food whenever possible, feed a high-quality staple for fry that will take it (I use crushed NLS myself), and do lots and lots of water changes.

I feed all my fry 4-6 times/day, 20% water change every 4th day, min. 10 hrs of light/day.

Mine are all rift lake cichlids, but as mentioned it also depends on the fry in question.

i should have mentioned what fry i have,
calvus and comps, hongi and A.brownae
the calvus and comps are the ones im most worries about.
ive been feeding them mainly "OSI spirulina flake" and frozed brine shrimp every couploe of days,
i will chase up some brine shimp eggs and get busy with some more water changes
thanks for all the replies too..

I still think that Microworms are the best choise for new born fry. The first week is vital & Microworms are superb & cheap.

Calvus are VERY slow growers often taking more than 2 yrs to attain full size. About 1 1/2" @ 1 yr. High protein foods such as BBS help them along a bit but really its a waiting game...

The others, Clean water, proper foods and a regular feeding schedule you should have them at 1 1/2" in 5-6 mths
