300 gallon ponds first winter!!! | |
Gourami Mega Fish Posts: 1205 Kudos: 477 Votes: 1 Registered: 23-Apr-2002 | I have bss and croppys in my new 300 gallon above ground pond. How will they do in the winter? They are from a local pond so they are used to winters around here. Should i keep feeding them in the winter time? Or will they hybernate? And if i should keep feeding them do i feed them like normal or less? Also what are some good ways to keep my pond from freezing over. I dont really have much problems with things freezing too bad in the winter around here(in oregon). We are sposed to have a really light winter this year so im not to worried. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you |

If that is the case, no matter what you will probably lose your fish. Again, I could be wrong. Can some one with a little more knowledge correct me if I am. |

Feeding the fish:In cold water the fishes' digestive systems are sluggish.the best is to feed easily digested foods.when the pond temprature is drops below 55 degrees F..feeding should be stopped altogether when the pond temprature drops below 45 degrees F. for the pond to not freeze over you can buy de-icer or thermo-pond. |
