Today's show is a mixed blessing. He had Elmo on and was setting up a tank for Dorothy because she shouldn't be in a bowl. Put a betta in the bowl instead. However, he put the comment goldie in with fancies in a tank, and said that the rule is about one gallon of filtered water for each inch of goldfish. I am glad that Heidi wasn't watching this with me. She would probably swat my arm in frustration. |

Now maybe he should prephrase it by saying 1 inch of GROWN goldfish (though they are still little), and as they grow you must get bigger tanks....heck I don't know how he could have fixed it.... Les you said he kept putting more and more goldies in the 10 gallon---Arrrghhh!!! Ok, I'll go somewhere else now, and try to figure how it could have been better]:|...Heidi Last edited by BBNP at 17-Jan-2005 19:57 "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Save me!!!!" Or at her house, I'm outside with Little Bit, while Leslie kills it...:%) But, that's just me...Arachniphobic----->>>Heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." I commented about it to my family (they were watching as well, or I would have changed the channel), and told them what the guy was doing wrong. It is really sad, how people are constantly being told that goldfish will survive in bowls. None of these mainstream sources of misinformation state the maximum size of goldfish, or mention that bowls are unsuitable with most fish. If people were to actually become more responsible and research their potential purchases, at least 50% (this is an underestimation) of aquarium fish deaths would be prevented. |

I can't possibly dislike a guy with a thriving business who NEVER mentions it, or allows mention of it, on his show. There's not even a link to the business website from the show website! Quite a change from all those aquarium books that shill specific products on every page (and whose purported backer has run off dodging taxes in South America ). -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |
