Algae gone crazy | |
SheKoi Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 553 Votes: 4 Registered: 11-Feb-2004 | my large pond is full of banket weed - it's 4ft deep and you can still see the bottom, but the sides are over grown, makes the pond look 2ft wide instead of 4.5ft. the main problem is my pond is over stocked - but i'm hopefully geting my oen house soon so waiting to build larger pond. is it to soon to vacuum it out and do a water change - it's still winter, haven't had a freeze for few weeks and pond hasn't frozen over at all this winter. should i wait till water warms up further?? Cheers shekoi. www.blooming-brilliant.co.uk |

Any warmer and you are going to be bringing your fish out of hibernation and might shock them with the temp swing. I would instead cover the pond surface if the pond is small enough to cut back on the light at least 80% for a week or so. Should kill off your algae. Are you filtering the pond right now?
