Hey...While looking at our pond my dad spotted a baby fish. We all started looking carefully and found a bunch more. We had no idea that one (or more) of our fish was carrying eggs, and dont know what type of fish they are. What should we do? Should we take the babies out or just leave them in the pond? Thanks!

Pond goldfish are very very prolific - I'm amazed you only spotted two! Actually, it's a problem sometimes, as they'll happily reproduce themselves right past healthy stocking levels, and the fry grow quite fast in a pond environment.

BTW, goldfish don't get "pregnant" - they can carry eggs, but it's much less apparent in them than other egglayers.

I have a bunch of koi or shubunkin/comet babies (not sure which). I take out all that I find (there's probably tons more I never see) and put in my fry grow-out tanks, because I have a few livebearers in my pond, and they would otherwise become snacks. I know I can't catch all of them, but I'd like to grow some out myself. If you don't have natural predators in your pond (i.e., dragonfly larvae, or smaller pond fish, then they're probably safer (and will grow faster) in the pond.
