The Mutant Goldfish Enthusiast Posts: 191 Kudos: 31 Votes: 8 Registered: 23-Apr-2002 | [font color="#008000"]Is this catfish a good fish for a non-heated tank? I'm just curious...and, what size of tank do you think it would need to live in for it's whole life? --- Born in radioactive waters, the Mutant Goldfish swims... Check out my profile to see my tank setup(s)! |

Not sure this is really a fish I would attempt to keep in an aquarium of normal house size capacities. |

A pond of over 1,000 gallons may be good for it for life, I'd wager. But yes, they are coldwater fish, often mixed with koi to prevent tons of offspring (they eat the eggs), and would do fine without a heater Last edited by smantzer at 10-Feb-2005 17:12 |

OpenHands Fish Addict Posts: 612 Kudos: 345 Registered: 13-Jan-2003 | I know someone who bought a cute little albino channel cat once upon a time for their spacious 75 gallon. Now it's a 2 foot monster that has devoured nearly every fish in it's cramped 75 gallon tank. I believe the owners are planning to put the catfish in a pond come springtime. |
