[font color="#008000"]Is this catfish a good fish for a non-heated tank? I'm just curious...and, what size of tank do you think it would need to live in for it's whole life?

If this is the fish I'm thinking of then yes a cold water tank would be fine - however this fish gets huge in the wild - well over 25 pounds, so the larger the better. Not sure this is really a fish I would attempt to keep in an aquarium of normal house size capacities.

This fish is absolutely massive. Just google it-- these fish are huge, huge, huge. A pond of over 1,000 gallons may be good for it for life, I'd wager.

But yes, they are coldwater fish, often mixed with koi to prevent tons of offspring (they eat the eggs), and would do fine without a heater

I know someone who bought a cute little albino channel cat once upon a time for their spacious 75 gallon. Now it's a 2 foot monster that has devoured nearly every fish in it's cramped 75 gallon tank. I believe the owners are planning to put the catfish in a pond come springtime.

doedog these aren't the ones usually caught noodling. Flatheads and blues are the one usually went after because they get bigger. Though they do catch them
